Ryan ValentineQuakers manager Dave Penney will be forced to reshuffle his defence to cover for the absence of Tim Ryan and the continued suspension of Evan Horwood. As always Penney is keeping his cards close to his chest but could possibly bring back Craig James and restore Micky Cummins to midfield to offer more attacking options in the centre of the park.

Having recorded seven points from a possible nine another win would seriously boost Darlington's promotions which were flagging badly just a few short weeks ago. However wins over Peterborough and Grimsby with a draw at Bury sandwiched in between have moved Quakers to within four points of the play-offs. Several new faces bought in by Penney has helped Darlington tremendously and the Quakers' manager is looking for the positive results to continue.

"We got ourselves into a decent position before that bad run and we are not a million miles away from seventh position now. It is important to build upon what we have done so far in January and continue with that against Wrexham on Saturday," said Penney. "It has been up and down, certainly since I've been here. We are back on track now but I couldn't help the players out in terms of brining personnel in when we were struggling. Now I have been able to and there is a lot more competition."

Wrexham find themselves a point outside the relegation zone. However as Darlington have proved a poor position can quickly be made good again with a handful of positive results. Wrexham's current position has not been helped with the departure of Darren Ferguson. The son of the Manchester United manager Sir Alex has joined Peterborough United becoming their new player manager.

The Red Dragons however picked up a good point against Hartlepool United last weekend and as a result the visitors are likely to field a similar line-up. Mark Jones, Neil Roberts and Juan Ugarte still unavailable. Defender Steve Evans could be ready for a return after missing the Hartlepool game with a broken nose. Chris Llewellyn will take his usual place in the starting eleven after the club turned down an approach from Peterborough in midweek.

The game will also see the return of Ryan Valentine to the North East. The defender was a popular figure during his spell at the club and should received an excellent reception from the Darlington faithful. Neil Wainwright will also be facing his home town club as well as being up against his former team mate. The meeting between the left back and the right winger should prove another interesting battle.

Darlington's match against Wrexham kick's off at 3pm.
