Darlington v Wycombe Wanderers
Quakers will welcome high flying Wycombe Wanderers as they look to put their recent FA Cup exit to one side and concentrate on the important mater of league football and establishing the club in the top seven my the Christmas period. To do this Darlington manager Dave Hodgson has enlisted the help of Tresor Kandol from Dagenham & Redbridge to help bolster his forward line.
It is almost ironic then as Darlington bring in a forward Wycombe decide to ship one out. Well not quite ship out really. Top league two goalscorer Nathan Tyson has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until the transfer window when Forest will no doubt complete a full transfer for the player if he does well. The difficulty now for Wycombe will be to remain focused ahead of the game.
"It's difficult for us before such a big game in our season," said manager John Gorman on their official site. "But we will show the professionalism and concentrate on Darlington. In the meantime we wish Nathan every success in the future and I'd like to say that while I've worked with him, he's been a credit to us. He has kept going all the the way through the speculation and that was hard to do because it seemed like something was happening every week. The whole club has done really well as it's been dragging on for quite some time. Although we're upset at losing him we understand that he had to move."
The Chairboys are having an excellent season so far. Whilst the loss of Tyson will be a blow they still possess a quality squad and are currently the only club in the football league and Premiership who are unbeaten. This is something that Quakers will be keen to end come the 2.30pm kick off time. Indeed assistant manager Mark Proctor is not intimidated by Wycombe's impressive record - he is relishing the chance at denting it.
"Obviously it is going to be a difficult game but that said it's the type of game we enjoy and like," said Mark Proctor, Darlington's assistant manager. "We are arguably underdogs on Saturday but it would be nice to have a go at them and become the first team to beat the last team in the country who are unbeaten in the league."
Quakers have found results difficult to come by on late and goals even harder. However with a new forward at the club the mood should be boosted ahead of the game and Dave Hodgson's men can attempt to repeat the last meeting at the club when Darlington were on home soil - a 1-0 win back in late October of last year.
As always to those travelling down to the game have a safe trip. Please note match report, audio post match interview and comments after the game will suffer a significant delay after tomorrow's game due to unavoidable circumstances. The official site will hopefully have these later in the evening. Apologies for the delay in advance.
