Kidderminster Harriers v Darlington
Darlington take on Kidderminster Harriers tomorrow evening and Dave Hodgson's men have the perfect chance to put Saturday's disappointing performance in the league behind them. Regardless of the competition a win is a win and this is exactly what Quakers need following the game at Gigg Lane.
Whilst the LDV trophy may not be a high priority on everyone's list a decent run in any competition can provide a decent lift around a club along with the obvious finical rewards. However if Darlington are to get a little bit of cup enjoyment this season they will have to secure passage past Kidderminster Harriers, a team who despite relegation last season, foiled Darlington's play-off attempts on two separate occasions in the league. If anything a second round place would provide a little bit of welcomed closure considering some of the pain they have inflicted on Darlington in recent years.
Kidderminster last season were of course plying their trade in the football league but finished second bottom and found the trap door beneath them open up and swallow them. So far this season things are not quite so bad and Harriers fans find their team nicely poised in the conference. Currently sat just below midtable Kidderminster are seven points off the play-offs but if they are to challenge they will surely have to turn some of their defeats into draws.
Ahead of the game Kidderminster have received a boost with the news that on loan Simon Heslop will be allowed to play for the home side. The midfielder is currently on loan from Barnsley and has been granted permission to take part in the tie. Meanwhile Daniel Lewis is set for his first start of the season for Kidderminster. The keeper has only been involved in one game prior to this tie - a 3-0 defeat against Northampton Town. Full match report and post match comments to follow the game on Wednesday morning. For all those travelling down have a safe trip.
