Hignett and Appleby celebrate play-off semi final win at Barnsley and the pair could be playing with each other again tomorrow |
Yeovil it would be fair to say will perhaps offer a different challenge to Boston United. The Glovers are freely scoring but also concede goals on their travels as indeed their FA Cup tie here proved earlier in the season. Yeovil are one of three sides who have conceded more than thirty away goals this season, the other two teams being lowly Kidderminster Harriers and Bury.
It is with this aforementioned Cup tie that fans certainly want to avenge. Quakers were pegged back at the death from a dubious free kick and a replay resulted.
Saturday's game against Yeovil will be the forth time the two teams have met this season. The first occasions was early in the season when Quakers managed to grab a point at Huish Park. The other two occasions of course came in the FA Cup. Whilst Yeovil will undoubtedly be a tough game Quakers have already dispatched high flyers both home and away in the form of Scunthorpe United and more recently Swansea City.
"Yeovil have been going well all season and I'm sure they will give us one hell of a game," admitted Hodgson in the Northern Echo. "But we've already shown that we can beat the likes of Scunthorpe and Swansea this season, so Yeovil will be no different."
Dave Hodgson and Mark Proctor welcome back a host of new faces in time for the game. Whilst Quakers were left decimated for the visit of Boston but now they are back in the pink. Alun Armstrong, Clyde Wijnhard and Neil Wainwright all return from suspensions. Craig Hignett could also be in contention following injury. It is safe to say there are going to be one or two disappointments when the team sheet is read out. Any player who is dropped will have to consider themselves very unlucky as the Boston performance was a hard working one with plenty of graft from everyone.
Quakers will also welcome a familiar face back into the fold. Matty Appleby rejoins the club from Oldham and like the Stereophonics sing he has come back 'the long way round.' Since his last run out Darlington he has played 189 games for Barnsley and Oldham. The 32 is currently fit as he played in Oldham's 3-0 win against Port Vale last weekend.
Yeovil come into the game on the back of some patchy form. Whilst they won their last game against Leyton Orient they drew against Northampton and lost against Grimsby. Despite the dip in form Yeovil still find themselves six points clear at the top thanks largely to how inconsistent the rest of the division can be.
For all those not able to make the game tomorrow full match commentary from Ray Simpson is available on Quakers World with a full match report and match reaction on the site following the full time whistle. Enjoy your weekend.
