Wycombe v Darlington

Curtis Fleming available for selection again |
Darlington were hopeful of bringing in a striker in time for the match to add further competition and cover however Hodgson has been unable to push the deal through but there is still the chance Quakers could have a forward in time for the visit of Swansea City on Tuesday night.
In the meantime however Dave Hodgson will have to rely on his strike partnership of Alun Armstrong and Clyde Wijnhard. The pair are currently going through something a lean spell in front of goal at the moment but Armstrong is hopeful of ending the drought of goals and increasing the performance levels.
In the previous meeting between the two sides in October Darlington grabbed all three points with a Clyde Wijnhard spot kick however since then the home side have steadily improved their form and now like Darlington are in contention for a play-off spot come the end of the season. Only one defeat in their last seven have certainly given Wycombe a real chance. The Chairboys go into the match on the back of results over Rushden & Diamonds and Scunthorpe, it is not the first time Wycombe have won games back to back this season in the league however they are yet to win three games in a row. Indeed the last time they did so was three years ago in February 2002.
Wycombe will go into the game having managed to have kept a hold of their captain Roger Johnson. The defender was sent off in the recent win over Scunthorpe for an alleged elbowing incident - something with he denied and today had his red card rescinded meaning he was free to play against Darlington.
Speaking on the club's official website he admitted it was a big relief. "It's not been a nice couple of days," said Johnson. "I said after the game on Tuesday that I didn't touch him and I was adamant about that. I always thought they would rescind it so to it's good that they have."
The Wycombe skipper was saved from an unfair punishment thanks to video evidence. "I've been through every scenario over the past couple of games and kept thinking 'what if?'. It would have been awful if the decision had stood but luckily the camera was over that side of the ground and it showed I didn't do anything."
Darlington will have Adolfo Gregorio and Curtis Fleming available for selection again. Fleming proving his fitness by coming through a reserve game in midweek. However David McGurk's good performance against Notts County will give Hodgson something to think about. Adrian Webster will not be able to play after suffering another Hamstring problem in the Notts County game and Craig Hignett will miss this outing and the next three weeks through injury.
To all those travelling to the game have a safe trip. For those not attending then remember full commentary is available on Quakers world with Ray Simpson. Whether your listening from home or travelling to the match have a good weekend.
