Boston danger man Andy Kirk
Quakers take on Boston United as York Street on Saturday as they look to extend a sequence of three wins in a row. However the trip to Boston will not be an easy one on their home turf Boston have not lost a league fixture all season. Despite their good home form the Pilgrims still find themselves in a middle of the road spot in the table.

Quakers however should not have any fear as they roll into Boston. Three very good wins on the bounce have set Darlington up nicely for the Christmas period. The results over Cheltenham Town, Mansfield Town and Leyton Orient were all very convincing affairs to say the least and with the club anchored firmly in the play-off play melee Dave Hodgson and Mark Proctor will want the run to continue as they aim for that perfect Christmas of seven points from a possible nine.

Given the highly competitive nature of the division this season the securing of Alun Armstrong in midweek for the remainder of the season is simply massive. A number of other clubs were of course interested in the striker but he stuck with Quakers. There has also been transfer interest around Boston United this last week as well. Forward Andy Kirk has been targeted by an unnamed Championship side but Boston have turned down a six figure bid for him.

"I can confirm that the senior board members met late on Wednesday to consider a number of points and one included was an offer from a Championship club, who have requested anonymity at this time," said the Boston United Chairman Jon Sotnick on the clubs official website. "However, we turned the bid down because it did not meet our valuation of Andy and we want to give our manager Steve Evans every chance of winning a significant number of points over the Christmas period."

The Boston number ten will of course be the danger man that Darlington have to look out for. Released from SPL Hearts at the end of the 2003-04 season he has scored eleven goals this season, nine of which are in the league.

Both sides have come up against each other at York Street on two occasions and each time Quakers have lost. However should Darlington put in the sort of performance they did last season away at Boston they should be onto a result. Darlington really gave Boston a good going over last season in this fixture and were unlucky to lose by the single goal.

For all Darlington fans travelling to the game have a safe trip down. For those not travelling full match commentary is also available on Quakers World with Ray Simpson guiding you through the action as it happens.
