One injury after another for Pawel Abbott
Pawel Abbott admits he is 'devastated' by his ongoing injury problems.
Since beginning pre-season training this month he has suffered knee and Achilles problems which have kept him out of both of Quakers' friendlies so far.
Abbott's problems appear to be a continuation of the injury woes he suffered last season, when a hamstring problem prematurely ended an already injury-plagued campaign.
The 26-year-old had been hoping to wipe the slate clean when he returned after the summer break.
Although both the hamstring strain and more recent knee injury have now cleared up, earlier this week he sustained an Achilles injury and talking to the Northern Echo he said: "I'm devastated, it's just one injury after another and it's always a different one.
"I've been keeping on top of the hamstring and that seems OK now. But it seems like I'm going through every injury.
"It started off with the knee and I was going through the rehab, and now it's the Achilles. The knee has cleared up and we were planning to step up the training this week, but then the Achilles flared up.
"How long it's going to keep me out for I don't know. I felt it after training and the next day I couldn't run on it or anything.
"After the injuries last season I had wanted to start again and get a good pre-season under my belt. I missed a bit of pre-season last year so wanted to have a good one this year and start the season well.
"But again I'm injured. I've never been injured so much in my career.
"Prior to coming to Darlington I only had one or two injuries in my career but I just can't get fit and I'm gutted. I can't put my finger on why it's happening.
"The physio and I aren't getting on because we're seeing too much of each other!"
Abbott will not play when Quakers travel to Billingham Town on Saturday, but manager Dave Penney hopes the striker may make an appearance at home to Leeds United on Tuesday.
