Elton John concert
Concert-goers attending Saturday's event at the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena starring Sir Elton John are advised of the following travel information.
CAR PARKING
At the stadium
Car parking at the Stadium will be charged at £10 per car, with tickets only available and paid for in advance from the Darlington Football Club Ticket Office (Tel: 08718 551883). Vehicle entry to the stadium car parks will require the display of the car parking ticket.
There will be no car parking tickets available on the day of the concert at the Stadium.
Please note that for the safety of pedestrians leaving the stadium, Neasham Road will be closed for a period of time and no vehicles will be allowed to depart the Stadium for at least 30 minutes and up to 60 minutes after the end of the concert.
PARK-AND-WALK
A number of park-and-walk sites (A1, A2 and A3 on location plan below) will be available along the B6280 Yarm Road and will be easily assessed off the A66. Parking at the sites will be charged at £5 per car. The sites are al within 30 to 40 minutes walking distance of the stadium; direction signs will identify the walking route to and from the stadium. Shuttle buses will operate between the park-and-walk sites and the Stadium before and after the concert. The return time for the shuttle buses will be in the order of 20 minutes.
The park-and-walk sites will be sign-posted off the A66.
Park-and-Ride is also available from Amec, Orange and Cummins on Yarm Road.
TOWN CENTRE CAR PARKS
There are a number of town centre car parks, all within 25 to 40 minutes walking distance of the stadium. Directional signs will identify the walking route between the town centre and the Stadium. Shuttle buses will operate between Tubwell Row in the town centre and the Stadium, before and after the concert. The return time for the shuttle buses will be in the order of 20 minutes.
PARK-AND-RIDE
2 park-and-ride sites (B1 and B2 on location plan) will be available and will be easily accessed off the A66 in Horton Road and McMullen Road. Parking at the sites will be charged at £5 per car. Shuttle buses will operate between the park-and-ride sites and the stadium before and after the concert. The return time for the shuttle buses will be in the order of 30 minutes.
The park-and-ride sites will be sign-posted off the A66.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS AROUND THE STADIUM
There are parking restrictions along the A66 and Neasham Road in the vicinity of the Stadium.
There is a residents parking scheme (RPS) in operation within the residential area to the north of the stadium.
The lay-bys on the A66 in the vicinity of the stadium will not be in operation for a period of time before, during and after the event.
Neasham Road will be closed for a period of up to 3 hours at the end of the event, between its junctions with the A66 and Geneva Road / Parkside. If arranging to be picked up after the event, please make suitable arrangements to avoid this section of Neasham Road and to take account of the parking and clearway restrictions along the A66.
The Police and Local Authority advise that parking, clearway and RPS restrictions around the Stadium will be enforced.
There is sufficient car parking available and you are asked to use these facilities wherever possible. If parking in other areas please show consideration to other road users and local residents.
GETTING THERE BY CAR
From the north
Leave the A1(M) at j59 and follow the signs to the A167 (Darlington).
Access to the Stadium and the town centre / park-and-walk / park-and-ride sites will be sign-posted from j59.

From the south
Leave the A1(M) at j57 and follow the signs to the A66 (Darlington).
Access to the Stadium and the town centre / park-and-walk / park-and-ride sites will be sign-posted from j57.

GETTING THERE BY TRAIN
Darlington Station is on the East Coast Main Line between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley and is within 25 minutes walking distance of the Stadium; direction signs will identify the walking route between the station and the Stadium.
However due to the availability of trains on the East Coast Main Line following the end of the concert it is envisaged that rail travel will only be an option for areas to the north of Darlington and local services.
You are advised to check the train times if planning to use this mode of travel.
