Grimsby Town manager Alan Buckley's disappointment was obvious following his side's 4-0 defeat at the hands of Darlington on Tuesday night. Quakers scored in the opening few minutes through an Alan White header before Greg Blundell, Richie Foran and Micky Cummins all weighed in.

Grimsby have struggled at home all season and dropped out of the FA Cup with a defeat to Huddersfield Town. Buckley had called for his players to bounce back from their disappointment but instead they slumped to the disappointment of their manager and their fans.

"It has taken a lot to be able to come and talk about it, to be honest," said Bluckley in the Grimsby Telegraph. "However bad the supporters are feeling, I am feeling worse. The players are given certain duties to perform in set pieces, certain players to pick up and a few of the players let lads go and then we are down. I am supposed to have an answer for that kind of thing. It is easy for the players to say that it is my fault, but it is more than that."

"They have got a duty to perform. The first goal was a real shock. Then the players messed around on the edge of the box, there were no blocks or challenges and the ball relayed through a players legs and it was 2-0. You can imagine what it was like in the dressing room. And then we went out and conceded another terrible goal within a few minutes. I am supposed to have the answers but I can't answer that."
